These Baked Apple Fritters offer the same delicious flavor of classic fried apple fritters without the mess of frying! With tender apple pieces, warm cinnamon, and a sweet glaze, these fritters are the perfect cozy treat for breakfast or dessert. 🍂🍏
Ingredients:
For the Fritters:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp melted butter
1 cup peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp milk (to reach desired consistency)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Fritter Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
Shape the Fritters:
Scoop about 1/4 cup of batter onto the prepared baking sheet for each fritter, spacing them a few inches apart. Flatten each scoop slightly with a spoon to create a rough fritter shape.
Bake the Fritters:
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the fritters cool slightly on a wire rack.
Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
Glaze the Fritters:
While the fritters are still warm, drizzle or dip each fritter in the glaze. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions:
Serve warm for the best flavor and texture, with a cup of coffee or tea for a cozy treat.
